Abstract
The purpose of this study was evaluation of new born Apgar score which was closely related with various maternal conditions and the way of labor. In here, new born Apgar score were divided into three groups (group I, group ¥±, group ¥²). Group I consisted of score 1, 2, 3, 4, group ¥± consisted of score 5, 6, 7, and group ¥² consisted of 8, 9, 10. Group I babies manifested severely depressed vital signs and needed immediate aid, group ¥± babies showed moderately depressed and group ¥² babies were an excellent condition and need no aid beyond the first simple suction. The results were summarized as follws: 1) 249 cases of new born were divided into three groups (group ¥°, group ¥±, group ¥²). Group I baby was 13 case (5.21%), group ¥± baby was 38 cases (15.26%), group ¥² baby was 198 cases (79.52%). 2) There was no significant difference of new born Apgar score in primipara and multipara. 3) There was no particular inclination of Apgar score in age of mother in this study. 4) One baby born before 28weeks gestation showed score 5, and 6, new born babies in 28weeks to 32weeks manifested group I and group II but not in group III. And 36weeks to 42weeks of gestation showed mainly group III baby, but preterm baby manifested lower score of group III baby and over term baby showed increasing of group II score compare to term baby. 5) Apgar scores of new born were declined to lower score in lengthening of first and second stages of labor. 6) In order to investigate the effect of selected premedication on the condition of the new born infant, there was no significant difference of Apgar score upon the premedications. 7) The sign of fetal distress measured by means of fetal heart one and Apgar score lowered in cases of 160 or over 160 heart beat per minute during labor. 8) Types of delivery influenced new born Apgar score ; mean Apqar Score 8.9 in normal spotaneous delivery, 8.1 in forceps delivery and 5.7 in cesarean seciton baby. 9) Apgar scores were deeply related to weight of baby ; premature baby`s and over 4000 gm. baby`s average score were lower than 2500 gm. to 4000 gm. baby`s average score. 10) Apgar score was low in breech presentation baby compare to vertex presentation baby.
